the river district toque (call for testing).

About a year ago, when Norah was really wee, I was driving through a southern Vancouver neighbourhood called The River District and found myself dreaming about baby toques. Problem was, once I started dreaming about it, I couldn’t get it out of my head! I wiped up a couple and thought I was finished with the idea but then Chrissy offered to test knit one based on some notes I’d made (thank you for pushing me, Chrissy!). And I still couldn’t get it out of my head. In the end, I did formally write up the pattern for a baby, toddler/child and adult toque. I quite like the construction and while there is one seam, one can modify the pattern to utilize a provisional cast on if that is preferred (I will be including this option in the final pattern).

Pattern :: River District Toque (pending publication)

Yarn :: Dream in Colour Classy, Raspberry & China Apple, ~90 yards

Needles :: 5.00mm 16” circular & DPNs

baby toque - raspberry blaze baby

I am looking for 2-3 testers who would be willing to have their finished toques by September 1, 2015. Feedback on readability, yardage and fit is required. Sizes available to knit include Baby, Toddler/child and Adult. This toque is quite stretchy and will fit a range of sizes in children up to teens for the middle size. If you are interested, please send me a message and I will whisk the pattern off to you ASAP!

Happy knitting :)

    I’m definitely interested in test knitting for you! Do you still need people?! I don’t know if my LYS has the same yarn but I’m sure I could find something similar!

    1. Yes, absolutely! A worsted weight yarn will sub perfectly. Can you send me your email address for me to send you the pattern? It’s listed in the sidebar of the blog! Thank you!!

  2. I would love to do this! I’ll send you my email too in case you still need people.

    I’d be interested! I have the yarn in my stash.

    1. Great! Can you email me and I’ll send the pattern along? My email is in the sidebar :)

  4. I’m so happy to hear you’re planning to release this pattern! It produces such a great result. That reminds me, I need to remember to grab the one I made last year before the cool weather this year. I think Jack is finally going to be big enough to wear it!

    1. I’ve had it sitting in a ziploc to bring wherever we’ve had coffee and I keep forgetting!! I will bring it next time ;) it’s a cute pattern and you were so supportive that I thought I needed to just do it !! :)

    A couple of days ago alexandknits (alexandknits.wordpress.com) posted a photo of a test knit she did of this pattern. Her version is insanely cute, and she directed me here to find out more. This is such a lovely design! Is there a pattern available? Can I test it? Buy it? Beg for it? ;)

    1. Thank you! I haven’t posted it to buy yet because I’m not happy with the fit of the adult toque. If you message me with your email, I’d be happy to pass it along before it goes live!
