Spinner Spotlight :: Tina Delenkolb

The Handspinner Spotlight is an opportunity for me to share with all of you some of the amazing handspinners out there in our community. It is an opportunity to see some of their work, as well as start to get to know a little bit about who they are and what brought them to spinning.

This month I have the pleasure to introduce Tina, who many of you know as the dyer and spinner behind Elfenwolle, a German-based indie company! Her colours and morning “hello from Berlin” posts on Instagram caught my attention about a year ago. Since then, I have looked forward to seeing her fibres dyed up and available on Etsy. I hope you’ll check out her feed and also, her Etsy shop.

Let’s hear from Tina::

I am Tina, I live in a small apartment in southern Berlin. Most of my free time I spend in my dying room, with my fiber blends and many colors. I am a great fan of Ireland, Fairytales, Elven, Gnoms, Trolls, Nature and silence. My birth month is November, I am a Scorpio and I love foggy, rainy days just like the roses in June.

During the 90’s I dyed sheep fiber with plants for felting, I fabricated clothes and I remember my grandma had a spinning wheel. She spun angora from my mother’s rabbits and wool from here with milksheeps on it. I bought my first spinning wheel and I learned by doing, I spun my dyed fiber and I was searching more interesting sheep wool. Because, I had found my passion.

My favourite yarns are fingering weight sock yarns, I love spin thin, the second are corespun yarns.

My best liked tool is my Hansen MiniSpinner for spinning, my drum carder for making my batts, my ball winder and my swift.

Mostly I plan a project at the first, often I am spinning for my shop, I feature how the fiber will come out and sometimes I am spinning fibers for my enjoyment. A ‘lightbulb’ moment is when I am spinning in a room with many other girls and here wheels, that is so stunning, all these woman with here good vibes.
