Favourite Make from 2021
Priscilla shares: My favorite make of this year was my handspun and handknit Queenie shawl (Truly Myrtle). It was a first for me spinning to/for a specific pattern. It was an excellent year for growing my spinning/knitting abilities.
Laura shares: My favourite make of last year is definitely the Shifty cardigan. It was my first intentional spinning project, and I learned a lot about dyeing fiber and spinning dyed fiber. I’ve already worn it a lot, and it’s probably going to be one of my favourites for a long time.
Megan shares: My favorite make was my spot sweater. I knit this only ie. not handspun ,as I’m just new to spinning and haven’t made anything from my handspun yet, but that will hopefully be changing soon!
Hanta shares: My favorite make of 2021 are these socks, my first ones in using handspun . They are so comfortable.
Maria shares: My favourite make of 2021 is a sweater modifyed from a hat pattern. Made with handspun yarns!
Charlette shares: “It Takes A Guild Cardigan,” would be my favorite, from yesterday’s post in General. I didn’t have a Make Nine but apparently I made nine+ somethings!
Kelly shares: Boy this is tough just to pick one. I would have to say, my absolute favourite project this year was my Bear Claw quilt, which I know isn’t knitting or spinning but was quite an achievement (I naturally dyed all the fabric, machine pieced, hand quilted and hand bound it). It’s roughly queen size, a little bit smaller. In terms of knitting/spinning, I’d have to say my favourite knit was The Oa by Kate Davies. The yarn I had spun for me at a local mill, after I had gotten it from a local North Country Cheviot producer. I dyed it with indigo (blue) and madder & cutch (reddish orange). My favourite spin was my BFL/kid mohair sock spin in @craftyjaks pesuta. I really really love this yarn, and the resulting socks are absolutely heavenly.
Eveline shares: That’s an incredibly hard question! Favourite thing to knit was the Dunedin shawl by Lucy Hague, in a commercial sock yarn. The cables were nicely challenging! I think I will make this again in handspun; Favourite thing to spin: well look at this bobbin of Whitefaced Woodland, it’s the Love Birds colourway by Cat&Sparrow
Rachel (mine) shares: Favourite Makes of 2021 (totally didn’t finish my Make Nine but I made some other things, which is totally okay with me!)
Claudia shares: I finally got around to taking pictures of my BACS. I used 1 of the separated color kit that i made into rolags on my hand cards. I spun those on my supported spindles. Then i took the kit that was only the natural colors and spun those in long sections keeping the white/grey/brown sequence and putting just a little bit of color in between each natural strips on my wheel. I plied the two together knowing it was going to give me a crazy barberpole effect and it absolutely did!!! I’m thinking of using it in a striped garment with a few other small amounts of handspun i have laying around. To be continued… The little skein on the right is the leftover from my rolag ply that i chained plied to see what i would create. That one isn’t soaked and is still quite curly, but i think it would be great for colorwork mitts or socks.
