Ketchup & Pickles | April 2022
Dear Spinning Circle,
Welcome to the wonderful, rainy month of April! I almost forgot to post this in all honesty but The Wool Circle helps me remember since we spend a very short period of time reviewing what’s been released on the final stream of the month. I hope you enjoy this month’s content releases! We also have a poll going for HOW TO SPIN the next braid from my stash-down I’ve got going at the moment. You can participate here!

Read on for all the things going on in the community so that you can catch-up with everything, learning and experimenting, and sprinkle in lots of play along the way!
What is Ketchup & Pickles, anyway? It came from my son, James, actually! He told me it is a chance to ‘catch-up’ and play (pickles).

At the beginning and end of all of our show notes, we often have links to information within the community. This can all be accessed through the Index (old – see below), the Slack channel and Ravelry (for those who use that site).
We have some new Indexes in progress: The Wool Circle, Wool n’ Spinning Radio, Spinning Purls & How I Spin – I hope these are helpful!
In an effort to simplify, I thought I would post monthly the housekeeping links to keep the show notes a bit simpler and shorter!
Let me know if there is anything I am missing in these posts – I am happy to add to them!
Teaching Content for the Month
InSpinning Purls, we continued with our dive into flax spinning. This month’s content is all about preparing the flax, using a distaff and wet spinning, and using the tea towel method. It’s a lot! The vlog post is here and the PDF download for those who subscribe to the Co-Exec Producer is here.
We were joined by Brittany Vogt this month on Wool n’ Spinning Radio! Brittany shares how she got into spinning and discusses building her business, living in Whitehorse, YK, and more! Take a listen here and that will take you to the video, if you prefer!
On The Wool Circle this month, we began working through all the amazing fibres that I have to spin for the Luxury Workshop upcoming this summer on the School of SweetGeorgia. We first looked at Mulberry and Tussah. To start off March, we looked at Angora Rabbit, then we explored Alpaca, LLama & Blending those with wool. Most recently, we’ve looked at:
The next stream is Monday, May 2nd @ 10am Pacific // 1pm Eastern – next up: Yak!! See you then!
I took a leap and launched a new vlog series that will get created as I am able – welfordWEAVES. It’s a chance to get some (not all) of the weaving off the podcast. If you haven’t seen the first few episodes, you can check them out here. They Premier on YouTube at 12noon Pacific // 3pm Eastern on TUESDAYS (opposite to the Live stream weeks). The most recent welfordWEAVES episode focused on overshot – you can find that here.
