Molly.

In my last post, I had mentioned a new knit that I was working on – Alana Dakos’ Molly. It’s finished! In total, this simple beret with its very cute lace brim took me 2 evenings to finish. You can’t beat that!

Molly is knit in the lace weight New Zealana’s Kia Ora Kiwi. I still used the same needle sizes called for and I am very happy with the results. From the brim, I knit to 4.5 inches before starting the decreases through the crown. This worked brilliantly since I ended up with a perfect sized beret for me.

For a quick knit, in two colours I love, in new fibre … well, I couldn’t be happier! Prior to washing, I stretched it gently over a 10 inch dinner plate and gently doused it into the water. I then just left it to dry, flipping it over every so often to let both sides dry. Worked like a charm!

Now onto January’s Socks. What is your first knit of 2011?

  1. Perfect!!

  2. This looks beautiful! I love the little lace brim, and stripes are always my favorite too. My first knit of 2011 were some re-usable cozies for my family. They were really easy, and fun to make. Thanks for asking :)Can't wait to see your socks!
