Breed & Colour Studies: Organic Polwarth

Dear Spinning Circle,

I am so pleased to announce the next iteration of Breed & Colour Studies, dyed by our amazing Katrina Stewart of Crafty Jaks Boutique, is ready to go! She will be listing* and releasing the fibre on Friday, October 25th (THIS FRIDAY!) at 12:00pm PST. The listing will then be made public at 1pm PST. For patrons, please head to THIS POST for password to the listing!

*NOTE: The listing will not work at this time because it is NOT LIVE.

For this study, Katrina and I discussed at length the direction we wanted to take after looking at black and white on spinning fibre so such a long period of time. Throughout our discussions, we continually came back to the idea of exploring how brown affects the colours we spin for its warmth, as well as the underlying changes it can cause in the finished colours. We also didn’t feel we were completely finished with white in our spinning fibre just yet. Katrina took these ideas, looked through and selected an awesome image from Tessa, and got to work.

While I know the community recognizes and thanks Katrina for the hard work she does to create the Breed & Colour Studies for us each iteration, I want to take a moment to really say thank you to Katrina.

As a community, we see you and the hard work you do! We appreciate the thought you put into these studies to create something truly amazing. Thank you, Katrina!

For those who are patrons of the Wool n’ Spinning community, the listing will GO LIVE at 12NOON PST and there is a discount code for you to input during that hour.

** Please note that after the initial hour is complete and the listing goes public that the code will no longer work. **

For the Patreon post associated with this study, please check here for the code and links.

If you missed the discussion Katrina and I had about this study, please have a listen or watch the most recent episode of Wool n’ Spinning Radio. There was also a bonus episode this month with Emonie of Hopkins Fibre Studio – we had an awesome chat and I hope you enjoy listening!

Please remember that purchasing fibre is never mandatory nor necessary to participate in the Breed & Colour Studies at Wool n’ Spinning. It is meant to be a community-building opportunity and you are welcome to join with your own fibre! Please join us in the chatter thread here, and remember to post your finished projects from all the studies in this chatter-free thread here.

I hope you are as excited about this study as I am. I’d love to hear what plans you have for the fibre and colours. For those who’ve spun a lot of Polwarth in the past, please share your experiences with us!

Happy Spinning!

Rachel
